Xande Ribeiro has competed against the best Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the world and has beaten many of them during his incredible career. Dean Lister, Marcelo Garcia, Robert Drysdale, Comprido, and Roger Gracie, are just some of the greats Xande has defeated, cementing his own legacy in the sport and guaranteeing his position as one of the greats in his own right. And this doesn't even take into consideration that Xande has had his guard past only 4 times in competition in over 29 years!
Xande started his Jiu Jitsu journey at the age of ten and was awarded his Black Belt at twenty by his brother Saulo, who is himself a legendary competitor and BJJ instructor. Xande has had some truly incredible distinctions during his career. In his first 7 years of competition Xande only lost twice in competition. As stated previously he has only had his guard passed 4 times and unbelievably has been mounted even less often.
But even with these achievements, Xande's journey has not always been easy. He has walked away from competition altogether on more than one occasion. Injuries have sidelined Xande and a few of them had him thinking of quitting the sport he loves. However, he has always found a way to push through, returning after injury on several occasions to win some of the biggest competitions in the sport.
Xande and his brother Saulo have also given back in enormous ways to the art of Jiu Jitsu. Passing on their philosophy and knowledge with the University of Jiu Jitsu, The Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu Association (that has over fifty affiliates across the globe), and SixBlades Jiu Jitsu academies that have locations in several states.
Their mission is simple, "Improve ourselves as Martial Artists, help people follow their dream, spread Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu all over the world, live by The Code and build a LEGACY".
